Travis Cuvelier was the Grand Marshall for the Relay for Life on July 17, 2004.

Travis Cuvelier and his team raised over $13,000 for the American Cancer Society. Cancer is one of the most threatening disease that can cause the death of victims and day by day it is escalating like a virus. There are millions of societies which are putting their efforts for the restrictions of Cancer, and many of them are proving it right by treating it efficiently.

Relay for Life is a Cancer society initiated by United States of America. It conducts community based fundraising event and each year more than 6,000 events take place in over twenty countries. Events regarding raising of money are held in local communities, universities campuses and in public places of USA and other affiliated countries. Teams comprised of people arrange camping’s and fascinates crowd with the aid of different activities such as foods, games, sports etcetera. It is mostly conducted on public gathering days, spending almost complete day in a large outdoor space, while, many volunteers bring tents and camps around the walking tracks. Apart from this, this society provide family friendly environment where voluntarily peoples with their teams participates.

Furthermore, the mission of this society is to collect charity for the survival of humanity, reduce the probability of cancer and enhance the caliber of life for the victims of cancer. Along with that, vision of any cancer society is to achieve maximum desired result that is to get rid of the cancer from every hook and corner of the world. According to the surveys conducted, it was predicted that around 4.5 million participants take part in Relay Life events in over 5,000 communities in the United States of America.

Specialties of Relay for Life Event

Many unique and entertaining activities are conducted during the event, different events are arranged at various locations of cities but concept of all events is common.

Survivors lap is the first specialty of this event, as the name suggests, it is round of the winners of cancer, who have got free from the cancer. In this round of event, many cancer affecters run for one lap around the track, whoever gets rid of cancer commemorate their victory while audience support them throughout the event. Apart from this, this society also dedicated this activities who care, give time and love to their lovers during their cancer.

Another unique specialty is Luminaria Ceremony, which is perform during night time, this activity is dedicated to those people who have suffering from cancer, and supporters of victims. Lanterns and candles are lit up to show the unity with the cancer victims.

Moreover, there are several other features of this event which inspires the victims to fight back from the pathetic cancer, these activities make people bound to show commitment in combating against cancer. Nowadays, many people are engaging themselves in these kind of activities which can be more beneficial for humanity. Along with this, these events help volunteers to develop there extracurricular activities too which can help them in their career too.
